Naxalites did not allow the construction of pucca houses.

The establishment of a security camp began to change the image of the village.

Bijapur, April 02, 2025/ As the dark cloud of Naxalism clears, the light of development has begun to reach Naxal-affected villages. The biggest example of this is Gram Panchayat Dharamaram in Bijapur district, where the first pucca house has been built since independence. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme), the pucca house of 70-year-old Mrs. Gundi Buchma is ready.

Even after the death of her husband, Mrs. Gundi Buchma did not lose courage and kept her son connected to education in an atmosphere of terror and fear. Currently, Mrs. Gundi Buchma’s house has been completed under the central government’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Mrs. Gundi Buchma’s house in the area is making people feel true freedom after 77 years of independence.

The story of Mrs. Gundi Buchma’s house becomes important because the operation of government schemes was difficult in Gram Panchayat Dharamaram due to it being a Maoist-affected village. Even after 77 years of independence, villagers were forced to live in terror and fear. Due to Naxal influence, basic facilities like water, electricity, and roads were also not available to the villagers in the Gram Panchayat.

Mrs. Gundi Buchma is a single woman who was raising her child by farming. She sent her child to another panchayat and educated him up to the 12th grade, which is an achievement for her.

With the establishment of a security camp in the village, the darkness of Maoism also began to fade. In the financial year 24-25, information about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was received from the Gram Panchayat. Initially, the villagers were afraid to construct houses due to fear. Over time, Mrs. Gundi Buchma started the construction of the house. Currently, her pucca house with a roof is ready.

Mrs. Gundi Buchma’s son says that due to the fear of Maoism, life was being spent in a hut without electricity, roads, or water. Now our pucca house has been built. With the establishment of the security camp, the circumstances are gradually changing. I thank the government administration.
