If you have an account with a bank or you use UPI, this information is very important for you. From next month, the bank is going to make a significant change. In fact, from April 1, the bank will shut down the accounts of users who are associated with the UPI app like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm and whose mobile numbers have long been passive.

Because of this, banks are taking this decision

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has directed banks and related apps to remove such mobile numbers by 31 March. The main objective of this change is to solve problems that arise due to inactive or recycled mobile numbers, as these numbers can obstruct the transaction.

If a number is not used for voice calls, SMS or data for 90 days, it becomes inactive. Such numbers are again allocated to new users. In this situation, if these numbers are associated with your bank and other financial services, it can cause many problems.

After April 1, the process of removing such bank accounts will be started every week, in which mobile number will be mandatory for any payment. If a problem arises in your mobile number, the transaction may fail. Many users link different numbers in their bank accounts or UPI apps. If any of these numbers remain inactive for several months, it will be removed.

To avoid problems in transactions, NPCI has directed that bank and UPI apps update the list of deleted numbers every week. After 1 April, any passive or again cycled number will be removed immediately from the bank’s system. If you want to keep your bank account or UPI ID active, it is necessary to recharge it immediately.
