Raipur, February 7, 2025 / To control environmental pollution, Pollution Under Control (PUC) centers for vehicle pollution checks will now be established at petrol pumps in Chhattisgarh. Petroleum companies have given their consent for this. The establishment of pollution check centers at petrol pumps will make it easier for vehicle drivers to obtain PUC certificates and they will not have to wander in search of other centers. Furthermore, this initiative will help in controlling air pollution from vehicles and will be a significant step towards environmental protection in the state.

It is noteworthy that on February 4, 2025, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, in a review meeting of the Transport Department, had instructed to take effective steps to prevent air pollution caused by vehicle smoke. Following this, on February 7, 2025, an important meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Transport Secretary and Transport Commissioner Shri S. Prakash and Additional Transport Commissioner Shri D. Ravishankar. Senior officials from Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Reliance Industries participated in this meeting.

In the meeting, representatives of petroleum companies agreed to set up pollution check centers (PUC centers) at their petrol pumps. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the central government, so that air pollution can be controlled and the health of the general public can be ensured. Indian Oil Corporation’s Chief Manager Shri Upendra Giri, Bharat Petroleum’s Chief Manager Shri B. Devkumar, Reliance Industries Limited’s Manager Shri Shreyas Gupta, and Hindustan Petroleum’s Chief Manager Shri Gautam Kumar, along with other officials from the Transport Department and petroleum companies, were present at the meeting.
