Naiduniya Representative, Indore. An engineer of a big IT company was cheated by cyber criminals. The criminals first deposited one thousand rupees in the name of like-commenting the video and then extorted Rs 30 lakh by luring them with huge profits in crypto currency.
When the girl tried to withdraw the money, the criminals switched off her mobile phone, threatening to implicate her in money laundering and cyber crime. On the complaint of the girl, the crime branch has registered an FIR. Investigation is going on on the basis of mobile and bank accounts.
Offered to like the video by sending SMS
According to Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya, an SMS had come on the girl’s mobile on July 12. In the SMS, an easy way to earn money online sitting at home was mentioned. Through this, an attractive offer was given to like, comment and subscribe online videos.
In the greed of money, the girl joined the Telegram channel of the accused through the link given by them. Many people from India and abroad were associated with the channel who used to send fake applause and false messages of earning lakhs of rupees on the group. Seeing them the girl fell into the trap of the accused.
Deposit one thousand rupees in the beginning
The accused started offering him to invest in crypto currency. Initially, only one thousand rupees were deposited on 13th July. The girl fell into the trap when the amount of investment was visible on the ID.
From then till now, in about three months, he deposited a total of Rs 30 lakh 20 thousand 628 in the accounts of the accused. He told the police that when he tried to withdraw the money, he was asked for it on the pretext of tax and other charges.
