Navdunia Representative, Bhopal. The administration has about 30 machines to demarcate land in the district, but these are never used by Revenue Inspectors (RIs) and Patwaris. Whenever demarcation is done, the responsible officers rely on private surveyors. These surveyors charge up to Rs 10,000 per acre for demarcation. Whereas in exchange of demarcation through government machines, farmers do not have to pay any additional fee. Recently, the Farmers Union had also lodged an objection with Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh regarding this.

Kolar, Berasia and Huzur tehsils of the district have maximum agricultural land. Because of this, more than 100 cases of demarcation occur every day in these tehsils. Whose application is submitted through Lok Seva Kendra. Here, after submitting the application, about one to two months are spent in getting the demarcation done. This process is done by RI and Patwaris from Tehsil level.

Sources reveal that the private surveyors who demarcate the lands are in collusion with the officials. As soon as the farmer applies for demarcation, the RI and Patwari sit with the private surveyor and prepare the complete map. After this, the land is demarcated on the spot on the same basis. In which a dispute arises if any discrepancy is found.

Whenever a farmer demands demarcation using government machines, it is refused by the RI and Patwari. At the same time, on repeated demand or complaint to the collector, these machines are declared defective. In such a situation, government machines are not used in demarcation.
