In Chunabhatti area of ​​the city, the servant of a disabled person stole his mobile and ran away and then spent Rs. 2.5 lakh deposited in his wife’s bank account through the mobile’s UPI app. The servant had been serving Swaroop Shaligram for the last six months. His wife Sonal Shaligram had employed him through a homecare agency.

While returning home from job on the evening of September 7, he stole the mobile phone of a disabled person and in two days, made different transactions and sent Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand to other bank accounts. On Sonal’s complaint, Chunabhatti police station has registered a case and started searching for the accused.

Police station in-charge Bhupendra Kaur Sandhu said that Sonal and her husband Swaroop live in Shaligram Sagar Garden Home Colony. Sonal runs a boutique near her house. Her husband Swaroop is unable to walk due to paralysis. To take care of her husband, Sonal had hired 25-year-old Saurabh Kochhar six months ago through an agency called Multi Homecare.

Saurabh is originally from Rewa district and currently lives in Karond. He used to work at his house from nine in the morning to seven in the evening. On September 7, Saurabh stole Swaroop’s mobile while leaving. When Sonal reached home at around 9 pm, she did not find Swaroop’s mobile. When she called, the mobile was switched off.

The company providing the caretaker was also interrogated.

When she immediately called Saurabh, his phone was also switched off, after which Sonal complained of mobile theft at Chunabhatti police station. In the next two days, he received messages of different UPI transactions, in which a total of Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand was withdrawn. Police is busy searching for the accused on the basis of his mobile location. Officials of the company providing caretakers are also being interrogated. Information has been sought from the company on what basis people are hired as caretakers.
