Naiduniya Representative, Gwalior. Anti-social elements had conspired to overturn the train at Birla Nagar station in Gwalior city. Late on Monday night, thick iron rods tied with wires were placed on the tracks of the third line on the outer side of the station. A goods train passed on this track at around 1.30 in the night. When the loco pilot of the goods train saw the sticks, he stopped the train by applying emergency brakes. After this, GRP and RPF were informed about the matter and they were removed.

GRP and RPF personnel reached the spot late in the night. GRP has registered a case against unknown people in this matter and started investigation. Due to caution order, the speed of the goods train was 12 km per hour. If the speed of the train had been higher, the rods would not have been visible and there was a possibility of an accident. According to technical officials, two iron rods were on the track at some distance.

Even if the first rod gets cut by the wheel of the train, the train would get jolted and by then the second rod would come under the wheel. In such a situation, there was every possibility of the train derailing. As soon as information about this incident was received, there was a stir throughout the day from Jhansi division to Prayagraj headquarters, because even before this a conspiracy had been hatched to overturn the train around various stations under North Central Railway.
