Navdunia Representative, Harda. Madhya Pradesh Pilgrimage and Fair Authority Bhopal has included the Nabhi Kund of Maa Narmada River and Riddhnath Temple located at Handia Tehsil headquarters of the district in the list of pilgrimages approved by the authority.
Now, with the inclusion in the approved list of the Mela Authority, the hope of increasing development opportunities in the Handia area has increased. Collector Aditya Singh said that the detailed project report of the proposal for development work to be done at Nabhi Kund of Maa Narmada River and Riddhnath Temple will be sent to the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority soon.
On the basis of the report, the state government will approve development work for Nabhi Kund and Riddhnath temple. Collector Singh said that a tourist circuit of tourist places will be developed in the district. Along with the historical and tourist places of Handia, major places like the ancient Shiva temple of Charuwa, Joga Fort and Gorakhal waterfall will be included in it.
That’s why Handia is special
Handia is a very ancient and religious place, where remains of faith related to Hindu, Muslim and Sikh religions are available. Being the navel place of Narmada, Handia is also the center point of Narmada Parikrama. Riddhnath temple located in Handia is a very ancient Shiva temple. It is believed that this temple was built by Lord Kuber himself.
It is also believed that the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, had rested in Handia during his stay. While leaving the stay, Guru Gobind Singh had presented a copper plate on which the charter is inscribed. This copper plate is kept for viewing in the Gurudwara located in Lodhi Mohalla of Handia.
Wazir Abdul Hasan, one of the nine jewels of Akbar, who became famous as Mulla Do Pyaza, died in Handia. His memorial is present in Handia. Apart from this, Shah Bhadang’s dargah in Handia is a center of Muslim faith. Teli ki Sarai and other ancient monuments built in the sixteenth century near Handia are also centers of tourism and faith.
