Naiduniya representative, Indore. After the approval of the Indore-Manmad new railway line project, preparations have now begun at the ground level. On the demand of the public, Naiduniya had submitted the public manifesto to MP Shankar Lalwani on 27 August regarding this 106-year-old project.

In this, MP Lalwani had said to get this project approved soon. After which on Monday, the Railway Ministry has given the green signal to this project. The project is to be completed in five years. After this, the distance from Indore to Mumbai will be reduced from 830 km to 568 km.

All this happened over a hundred years ago

Railway expert Nagesh Namjoshi said that in 1918, architect Patrick Geddes first prepared the blueprint of the Indore-Manmad rail line project in Holkar state. But work on it could not be done. In 2002, the then Railway Minister Nitish Kumar approved the amount for the survey of the project and the survey was completed in 2004. But due to lack of coordination between Maharashtra and MP government, the work could not start. After this, a movement started from Maharashtra for this project, which reached Indore. In 2016, Central Railway conducted a survey. In 2019, a contract was signed for this project between the Ministry of Shipping and the Railways. But later it was cancelled. Now the Railways is preparing the entire project itself.

Distance to Mumbai will be less

At present, to go from Indore to Mumbai, one has to cover a distance of 830 km via Ratlam, Surat. After the completion of Indore-Manmad line, this distance will be reduced to 568 km. The distance will be reduced by about 260 km. Along with this, four to five hours of time will also be saved.
