The former Chief Minister of Jharkhand has finally joined the BJP. Champai Soren took membership of the BJP along with his supporters in the presence of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi at the branch ground in Dhurva, Ranchi.
Champai Soren resigned from the JMM membership on 28 August. Giving information about this on his social media platform X, he said, today I resigned from the primary membership and all the posts of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Our struggle will continue for the issues of tribals, natives, Dalits, backward and common people of Jharkhand.

Just a few days ago, Champai Soren met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the pictures of this meeting on Twitter and said that Champai will join BJP on August 30.
Champai Soren accused JMM of insulting him
After this, Champai also made a long post on X and expressed his displeasure, accusing the Hemant Soren government and JMM of insulting him.
How powerful is Champai Soren?
Champai Soren, popularly known as Kolhan Tiger, was the most senior tribal leader in JMM after party patron Shibu Soren. Champai Soren belongs to the influential Santhal tribe of Jharkhand. According to the 2011 census, the tribal population in Jharkhand’s total population of 3 crore 29 lakh 88 thousand 134 is 86 lakh 45 thousand 42 people. In this too, the Santhal population alone is 27 lakh 54 thousand 723 lakh. Champai Soren is counted among the top leaders of the Santhal tribe. Champai, who played an active role in the movement demanding Jharkhand state, is also considered to have a strong influence among people of other tribes.
