Naiduniya representative, Anuppur. In a dispute between the women of two families over filling water, a fight broke out between the men of both the families which proved fatal for one side. A young man was killed with an axe.
The incident took place in Bodri village under Jarra Tola Gram Panchayat of Kotma police station area. The name of the deceased is Dinesh alias Kallu, son of Birju Baiga, 30 years. The deceased’s son Deepu and Mohan, 18 years, were injured in the incident. The name of the accused is Nandau, son of late Ram Vishal Baiga. Both the deceased and the accused are residents of the same locality.
Kotma police station in-charge Sundaresh Marawi said that this incident happened on Saturday evening around 7 o’clock. It was told that a few days ago, the daughter of the deceased Dinesh alias Kallu Baiga had a fight with the wife of the accused Nandau over filling water. On Saturday, the deceased’s daughter Rekha was bringing water from the hand pump near the Panchayat Bhawan where Nandau met her on the way and he got into an argument with Rekha.
snatched the axe and attacked
On getting this information, Dinsh alias Kallu Baiga and son Deepu both reached Nandau’s house on Saturday evening with an axe. During this, there was abuse and jostling between the two. It is told that when the deceased tried to hit Nandau with an axe, the accused Nandau snatched the axe from Kallu and hit Kallu on the head, causing a serious injury on the right side.
Meanwhile, Kallu’s son Deepu alias Mohan also tried to grab Nandau, then the accused ran to hit him with an axe, Deepu also got injured and has been admitted to Kotma Hospital. While Dinesh alias Kallu Baiga was brought to the hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead after examination.
Police have seized the axe from the spot
The accused has been arrested on Sunday. It is said that the deceased used to quarrel with the villagers after drinking alcohol. Everyone was fed up with him. The Panchnama of the deceased’s body has been handed over to the relatives after the postmortem proceedings.
