Ranchi: Bharat Bandh was called by social organizations in protest against the decision given by the Supreme Court a few days ago on the classification of reservation for SC/ST. The bandh was also supported by JMM, Congress, RJD and many tribal organizations.
The widespread impact of today’s Bharat Bandh was seen across the state including Ranchi. Most of the shops remained closed in the capital, groups of leaders from different parties took turns to come out on the streets with flags and banners to make the bandh successful. All services except emergency services were involved in the bandh, people from different organizations kept protesting at Albert Ekka Chowk, the Bharat Bandh had a widespread impact in the capital Ranchi, the road was blocked by burning tires and using bamboo sticks, no vehicles were allowed to move, bandh supporters kept quarreling with the common people, sporadic vehicles were running on the roads amid heavy security arrangements but most shops remained closed. Workers from different political organizations were seen reaching there and protesting. There is news of disruption of road and rail services in many areas of the state. At the same time, the bus service from Ranchi to other districts remained closed.
There was a fierce demonstration on the main road
To give full support to Bharat Bandh, as per the direction of JMM central leadership, the district committee officials under the leadership of JMM Ranchi District President Mustaq Alam, supporting the Bharat Bandh, took out a procession from Albert Ekka Chowk located in Firayal Lal, Ranchi and expressed their protest peacefully near the statue of Babasaheb Dr. Bhivrao Ambedkar located in the old High Court, Doranda and also garlanded the statue of Babasaheb.
