Indore. These days, the entire country is in turmoil after the rape of girls in Bengal and Maharashtra. Along with giving strict punishment to the accused, people are demanding that girls should be taught self-defense skills. But in Indore, Palak Anand has been teaching girls fencing, dand and pata fighting for free for the last two years. After the death of her husband, Palak took a pledge of social service and today she has become an example of inspiration.

365 women and girls were trained

So far she has taught 365 women and girls how to use weapons, including girls of 5 years to women of 55 years. She believes that daughters should be made capable so that they can protect themselves as well as their families.

33-year-old Palak Narwaria is working on women empowerment in the society. In the year 2012, she got married to Anand Narwaria. In those days, she used to work as a nurse. A few years later, Palak Narwaria opened her own diagnosis center. Palak Narwaria’s husband was very active in social service. Palak’s husband tried to do something for the society. He wanted his daughter to learn self-defense. But Palak stayed far away from social service. She only wanted to educate her daughter. Palak’s husband passed away in the year 2021. After this, she opened the ‘Anand Hai’ organization. Initially, she started helping people through ambulance. She transported unclaimed bodies and needy patients to their destination free of cost through ambulance. Later, Palak Narwaria provided relief to the people through blood donation camps. Currently, Palak Narwaria’s 10-year-old daughter Unnati also helps in social service.

Determined to empower all daughters

Palak said that my husband used to tell me to teach self-defense to my daughter. Later, when I realized the need for it, I thought of empowering not only my daughter but all the daughters so that no harm comes to my or anyone else’s daughter.

Camps will be organized at 11 places on October 1

The organization will organize free self-defense camps at 11 places in Anand city on October 1. In the free self-defense camps, students will be taught how to use sword, stick and pata. Palak said that these camps will be organized so that daughters do not have to depend on anyone for their safety. According to Palak, by learning the art of weapons, daughters will be able to protect themselves as well as their families.

The name of the institution was kept as ‘Anand’ because

After the death of her husband in the year 2021, Palak was unable to accept this. After this, she opened an organization named Anand. People used to tell Palak that Anand is no longer in this world. Palak kept denying this. Palak always believed that Anand is always with her. To prove this, the name of the organization was kept as ‘Anand Hai’. With this sentence, Anand feels present all the time.

Social service started with opposition to bad practices

Palak said that in many places, after the death of the husband, the woman is considered untouchable. No one touches her for a few days. No one talks to her. She is kept in isolation. I have seen my grandmother, mother etc. falling prey to this evil practice. After my husband’s death, I too was not untouched.

made people aware

According to Palak, after this I thought that I will not let other women fall prey to this evil practice. For this I started making people aware that this practice will not give peace to the husband’s soul. This practice will not benefit anyone. Then many people became aware to give up this evil practice.
