MP Rajya Sabha Election 2024: BJP will send George Kurien of Kerala to Rajya Sabha from MP

George Kurien has held many important positions in the BJP organization. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu from Punjab was also being considered as an alternative. Voting and counting of votes for the Rajya Sabha elections will take place on September 3.

State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal. After the resignation of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the BJP has declared George Kurien of Kerala as its candidate for the by-election to the vacant seat of Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh. He is a Union Minister.

On Tuesday, a day before the last date of filing nomination papers for the elections on August 21, the party’s national general secretary Arun Singh announced Kurien’s name along with candidates from other states. Let us tell you that on the basis of the party’s position in the MP assembly, the BJP candidate is sure to be elected from this seat. This is the reason why Congress has not fielded anyone yet.

By-election is being held due to this

Let us tell you that after Jyotiraditya Scindia was elected as a Lok Sabha member from Guna, by-elections are being held for the remaining term of his Rajya Sabha seat. It is worth noting that Kurien will get a term till April 2026. He is the second leader from South India after L Murugan who has been sent to the Rajya Sabha from MP.

Of the 11 Rajya Sabha seats from the state, except this seat, three are with Congress and seven with BJP. Among the BJP members, except L Murugan from Tamil Nadu, the rest are from Madhya Pradesh. It is worth mentioning that the names of many leaders of the state were also being considered for this seat. Voting and counting for this seat is to be held on September 3.
