Naiduniya representative, Morena-Sabalgarh. When the 140-year-old pond of Tonga Panchayat burst, lakhs of liters of water overflowed and entered half a dozen villages. Due to which flood-like conditions arose here. A week has passed since the pond burst, but the situation of waterlogging still persists in these villages.

Due to this, many problems have started arising in the villagers and some parts of Sabalgarh city due to the flood. The roads have become marshy and water has collected in the empty places. Due to this, there is a danger of spreading diseases. The work regarding the relief and health services to be given after the flood has not started yet.

It is noteworthy that a week ago on Monday evening, the old pond of Tonga suddenly burst. Due to which lakhs of liters of water poured out rapidly and reached the Gaud Colony of Sabalgarh and other areas including half a dozen villages. When the water came out of the pond rapidly, to divert it, the administration broke the wall of the canal near Budhpura and diverted the water.

Due to which houses were saved from getting flooded, but Tonga, Badhpura, Ranipura, Devpur Mafi and other villages were flooded. In many areas, three to four feet of water filled up. Due to which flood like situation arose in the villages. After being diverted, the water slowly drained out, but could not drain out of the villages completely. Due to which even after a week, flood like situation is still there in the villages.

There is waterlogging in many areas of the villages, the Gaud Colony of Sabalgarh, the Petrol Pump area is still filled with water, but the relief that should have been provided to the areas after the flood has not been provided anywhere. It has become difficult to move out due to mud and swamp. At the same time, the risk of spreading diseases has also increased due to waterlogging. Despite this, no special relief work has been done anywhere. Due to which people are being forced to live in hellish conditions.

Dirty water is coming from hand pumps and bores

When the ponds burst in the villages, water filled the villages and this created many problems. Empty plots and fields are filled with water around the houses. Secondly, the hand pumps and bores which supply water are also getting dirty water. Which is being used by the villagers and people of the area connected to Sabalgarh. Due to which there is a danger of spreading diseases.

In such a situation, Rajesh Gaur, a resident of Kutghan, said that the administration has been asked several times to do relief work here, but the water has still not been drained from the area. This is becoming a danger for the people. Dirty water is coming in the sacks. Pran Singh of Rampura says that the crops of the fields around the drain have been destroyed. Jagmohan Meena of Tonga says that the crops have been damaged due to the water, there is a foul smell. The situation is also bad in the villages.

The pond’s embankment is still not connected, water flows continuously

The dam of Tonga pond was broken up to about 18 feet, which has not been repaired yet, the situation remains the same, while water is continuously flowing from this broken dam from the pond. Due to rain in the hilly areas, the water that came into the pond is flowing through this dam, but its direction has been diverted towards the canal, while it has been diverted towards the connecting drain connected to it, but this drain was about 100 feet wide, but the villagers have encroached and left it only 15 feet wide.

Due to which there is a problem in draining out the rainwater. On the other hand, the survey of the damage to the crops has not been done yet. However, the administration is not considering the damage to the crops because the fields around the pond and drain were filled with water, which has been drained out.

The estimate for connecting the drain has been prepared and sent, as soon as it is approved, the water resources department will connect it. The team of doctors has been talked to regarding the situation of waterlogging in the area and spread of any kind of disease, a camp will be set up for the health checkup of the villagers. – Virendra Katare, SDM Sabalgarh.
