Alert in 27 villages of Morena, automatic gates of Pagara Dam may open after three years

In view of the rising water level in the dam and the possibility of the gates opening, the Water Resources Department has alerted 27 villages. Due to the rain, the Kwari river is also in spate, due to which many bridges and culverts have been submerged and the roads to rural areas have been closed.

The height of the dam is 654 feet.

The height of the Pagara Dam is 654 feet, making it the highest dam in the district. Till a week ago, the water level here was only about 70 percent, but due to the rain in the catchment area of ​​the dam in the forest area, it has been completely filled. Due to which the water level has currently risen above 652 feet.

The gates can open at any time

The water level can rise by two feet at any time, which can open its automatic gates. These gates open automatically as soon as the water level rises. The last time these gates were opened was in 2021, before that these gates were opened in 2012. Due to the dam being large, the gates open automatically once in several years.

Tourists also come to see the dam

Thousands of tourists start arriving at Pagara Dam to see this sight. A drain of the dam has just started working. When the water level reaches the gate opening stage, water starts flowing out from the overflow drains built in it, which are currently working at full capacity.

Alert in 27 villages

The water resources department is keeping an eye on the dam. Due to which, after the gate is opened, 27 villages coming downstream have been alerted.

After the water came into the Pagara Dam, the Water Resources Department has alerted the villages of May, Narhela, Bichpuri, Sidhaura, Dhastua, Jindpura, Ghughus, Pannu Ka Pura, Gadal Ka Pura, Rapt Ka Pura, Mudavali Ka Pura, Rajghat Ka Pura, Dungarpur, Kakardha, Khera, Barauna, Dulhani, Pahavali, Jarena, Silaitha, Kheneta, Ghuraiyabasai, Gadhi Khera, Dabi Ka Pura, Janved Ka Pura, Samale Ka Pura and Chhonda. The villagers of these villages have been alerted.

The Kwari river is also in spate

Actually, the water released from Pagara Dam will reach the Asan River. Due to which these villages can be affected by the rising water level. Due to the rising water level of the Kwari River, bridges and culverts from Sabalgarh to Porsa have been submerged. Due to continuous rains, the Kwari River has also overflowed. Due to which water has overflowed many bridges and culverts from Sabalgarh to Porsa in the district.

Many bridges are closed

Water is flowing five to six feet above the Bamsoli Rapata of Sabalgarh. Due to this, the road to more than half a dozen villages is closed. Similarly, the road to a dozen villages has been closed from the Baghchini Rapata, Palpura Rapata has also been submerged.

If we talk about Porsa, here water has come up to the Konthar Khurd culvert, however traffic is going on amidst danger. Traffic has been affected due to water coming over the Puravas causeway. Kwari river also passes through Morena Municipal Corporation boundary. Due to which on Monday night water remained only 200 feet away from the houses of PM Awas Yojana.
