Membership of MLA JP Patel and Lobin Hembram terminated in defection case, Assembly Speaker announces decision

Ranchi: The final decision has been taken on the membership of Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha member cum BJP MLA JP Patel and JMM MLA Lobin Hembram. Under the defection, the membership of JP Patel and Lobin Hembram has been terminated. Actually, the Speaker Court has given this decision on Thursday. Which will come into effect from 26 July. In view of the 10th Schedule of the Constitution, the membership of both the MLAs has been terminated. Actually, the hearing on the case of these two MLAs was done in the Speaker Court on Wednesday (24 July) itself.

Will not be able to participate in the proceedings of the monsoon session

During this time the decision was kept reserved. At the same time, the time to pronounce the decision on this matter was fixed at 4 pm. After which the Speaker of the Assembly Ravindra Nath Mahato, while giving the verdict, said that the membership of both the MLAs is terminated from 26 July 2024. After this decision, now both the MLAs will not be able to participate in the monsoon session i.e. the proceedings of the House. Let us tell you that Jharkhand assembly elections are also to be held this year.

In the Lok Sabha elections (2024), BJP MLA JP Patel was not given a ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party. After which JP Patel joined the Congress. And he contested on a Congress ticket from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency. Despite all this, he had to face defeat in the election. At the same time, JMM MLA Lobin Hembram also contested from Rajmahal seat against the party line. He stood as an independent candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. In which the result did not come in his favor. And he was defeated from Rajmahal.
