World Diabetes Awareness Day: IGKV’s startup is making jaggery products to replace sugar

Raipur. Today is World Diabetes Awareness Day. On such an occasion, good news is coming from Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. IGKV’s startups are preparing products as an alternative to sugar, which will be beneficial for diabetes patients. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are 44.2 crore diabetic patients in the world. By the year 2030, the number of diabetic patients in the country will exceed 8 crore. These diabetes statistics are not only frightening, but also warn about the danger.

Umesh Banshi, founder of startup Orgalife, said, although our work is organic food, but we are trying to prepare alternatives to sugar as well. For this, we have made Jaggery Paan. This is the only mouth freshener in the country that does not contain sugar. Similarly, Jaggery Khurchan and Jaggery Pachak without sugar have been prepared as an alternative to chocolate.

Priyanka Pandey of the city has prepared a medicine from acacia leaves which will not only heal wounds but will also eliminate the need for separate antibiotics. This medicine has also been patented. She said that this medicine will be effective for both normal and diabetic patients. For this, I experimented on rats. I devoted about two and a half years for this discovery. Chhattisgarh is a herbal state but not much research is being done on it. That is why I chose herbal.

Vacuum Packing

Umesh Banshi said that there is a problem in maintaining organic items. Even a little moisture can cause insects to attack. That is why we are doing vacuum packing in them. There is no one else doing such an experiment in the whole of Central India.
