Bangalore. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan is now going to enter the field of soft drinks and confectionery in India. For this, he will invest Rs 1,400 crore in a phased manner to set up a plant in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. This information was given by the office of Karnataka Industry Minister MB Patil. Minister MB Patil congratulated the former cricketer and shared photos through his social media handle X. He said, “A Rs 1,000 crore manufacturing facility is currently being developed in Chamarajanagar district, with plans to increase the investment to Rs 1,400 crore. He is committed to continue operations in Dharwad.” Patil said the meeting was “focused on coordination, with department officials actively providing the necessary support”.

The proposed factory is being set up under the name of Muthaiya Beverages and Confectioneries. The minister’s office said 46 acres of land has already been allotted for the project, and the cost was initially set at Rs 230 crore, but has now been increased.
