Ranchi: ED requested for 10 days remand of Jharkhand government’s second man Alamgir Alam from PMLA court. However, the court has approved the remand for 06 days. Minister Alamgir Alam will do the same today at Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar.
The minister’s involvement has come to light in the case of suspended Chief Engineer Virendra Ram related to irregularities in the tender process and the role of Alamgir Alam is most important in this matter. ED told the court
Action taken on the statements of witnesses
Based on the statements of witnesses and the material in the possession of the Enforcement Directorate, the role of Alamgir Alam has been found to be important and decisive in the ongoing investigation. Apart from this, the commission game in tenders was being run in an organized manner. In which money was collected and its share was distributed to the people involved in the syndicate. In this commission game, the percentage of money was also decided according to the importance of the person. It is also mentioned in the ED’s remand copy that during the investigation, many witnesses and evidence were found, which clearly shows the role of Alamgir Alam. Alamgir Alam has been accused of earning and concealing money through money laundering and has been arrested on that basis.
Recovery was done by assistant engineers
The agency told the court, “During the investigation, it was revealed that the entire process of collection and distribution of commission was done by assistant engineers posted in the Rural Development Special Division and Rural Affairs Department. Further, it was also found that Minister Alamgir Alam’s share was 1.5 per cent of the allotted tender amount and in one case it was also found that a commission of Rs 3 crore was sent to Alamgir Alam for one of the tenders. This money was sent to him by an assistant.
