New Delhi. In a ceremony held in New Delhi, President Draupadi Murmu honored Purnima Mahato of Jamshedpur and Chami Murmu of Seraikela with Padma Shri. Purnima Mahato is the national archery coach. He is also awarded the prestigious Dronacharya Award. Chami Murmu is called Lady Tarzan. She has planted more than 30 lakh trees.
After an illustrious career in archery, Jamshedpur’s Purnima Mahato started as a reputed coach to groom the next generation of archers. After 2000, he spent more than two decades grooming top archery talents. He has trained eminent archers like Dola Banerjee, Deepika Kumari, Komalika Bari, Pranita and Bhajan Kaur.
Padmashree Chami Murmu is 52 years old. She is called Lady Tarzan. Their role is very important in the field of environmental protection. She is known across the country as ‘Seraikela’s associate’. She is from Seraikela-Kharsawan district. She has worked in the field of environmental protection and women empowerment. Along with three thousand women, he has planted more than 30 lakh trees.
