Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. Police have exposed a gang that steals gold chains from the neck of women. The gang includes 7 female accused, who used to run away by diverting the attention of the women. A case was registered against the accused under Section 379 34 IPC and all were sent to jail.
Additional SP Umesh Kashyap said, Bindu Devi, Pooja Devi, Priti Devi, Anita Devi, Savita Devi, Shalu and Aarti Kumari, residents of Allahabad, UP, are included in this gang of thieves, who are robbing women passengers in autos and also in crowded areas. To divert his attention, she used to pass the gold chain from his neck.
Additional SP said, regarding the frequent incidents of chain snatching in the city, the police had appointed informers, on whose information the police has exposed this gang. Gold chains have been seized from these women and further action is being taken.
