Sudhir Sahu, Raipur. Under the new scheme, in case of an accident (hint and run) involving unknown vehicles in Chhattisgarh, a compensation of Rs 2 lakh is given to the dependents of the deceased. The injured person gets a compensation of Rs 50 thousand. For this, to make people aware and to explain the complete process of the scheme, Senior Superintendent of Police Raipur Santosh Singh has written a letter to all the police station in-charges and given instructions.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified a new scheme for compensation to victims of hit-and-run vehicle accidents on 25 February 2022. Under this scheme, a provision was made to increase the amount of compensation, i.e. in case of serious injury, the compensation amount was increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 and in case of death, the compensation amount was increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh.
What to do in case of a road accident?
First of all inform the police about the incident and then contact the insurance company. After this the police inspect the incident and send their report to the Motor Accident Tribunal within 30 days. The insurance company decides the compensation amount on the basis of the report. If in any situation the person is not satisfied with the compensation, he can appeal to the tribunal.
