Amritsar. The first Sikh Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, Ramesh Singh Arora has announced to amend the Anand Karaj Act. Under this, Sikh children below 18 years of age will be ineligible for marriage. According to the amended law, the marriage will take place in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The Sikh couple will have to fill a form. This form has to be submitted to the authorized registrar within 30 days of the marriage.
Presiding over a meeting of the Managing Committee (PSGPC) on behalf of the Pakistan Sikh Guru, Ramesh Singh Arora said that the new amendments in the Pakistan Sikh Act are going to be in favor of the minority community. It will soon be approved by the cabinet. During the meeting, several amendments were recommended in the Sikh Act.
